Sustainability

In line with our principles, the Company’s premise has always been to approach sustainability with an emphasis on social actions and initiatives in projects aligned with the environment, social welfare and the principles of Corporate Governance.

We are making progress in these areas, and our aim is to integrate these practices into our organizational culture, reinforcing the principles that have guided us thus far and adding even more value to our business strategies and to all our stakeholders. In 2021, we defined our sustainability platform, including guidelines, commitments and goals up to 2026.

The platform is supported by four pillars. They are: Our People, Our Customers, Our Partners, and Our House. These pillars apply to our staff, customers, and partners, and the way in which the actions of all these agents should preserve the environment and the world we live in and be based on ethical principles.

These are the Grupo Panvel sustainability pillars. They now play a part in all the decisions we make.

Corporate Responsibility

GOVERNANCE

The Company is listed on B3 (Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão) Novo Mercado, the highest governance levels of the Brazilian stock exchange. It requires us to provide a number of warranties to our minority shareholders and makes the stock eligible for inclusion in the ITAG (Differentiated Tag Along Stock Index) and IGC (Differentiated Corporate Governance Stock Index).

PEOPLE AND CULTURE

The years 2020 and 2021 have been memorable for our people.

In 2020, we arranged a number of training programs for staff, with a view to enhancing our performance, including our first Trainee Management Program, equipping young talents to cope with the growth in our business and developing our internal public; and we also trained a number of new Managers and Vaccinators, as part of our people development.

The promotion of knowledge as a business and human development tool has always been one of the key hallmarks in the history of the Grupo Panvel.

We took this to a new level this year 2021 with the launch of our Corporate University (Uni.D). This new initiative is aimed at broadening our training program, which will benefit more than six thousand employees at every level of the company.

The Grupo Panvel Corporate University consists of four Schools: Management, Pharma, Sales, and Processes. Each of them will have its own content and training methods, including distance and/or in-person learning, all thanks to a modern artificial intelligence platform that enables experience and know-how to be shared, thus encouraging greater autonomy in people’s professional careers within the organization. The idea is to support the company’s expansion strategy and help staff carve out a career plan through continual training and development.

Environment

RENEWABLE ENERGY

The Company is always in the lead for technical and sustainable initiatives, and in 2020 we began to take a more proactive stance in our interaction with the environment, building and inaugurating our first Photovoltaic Power Plants.

We currently have five plants, located in the cities of Montenegro/RS, Vacaria/RS, Rosário do Sul/RS, Mondaí/SC, and Santo Antônio do Sudoeste/PR. Together, they have around 14,900 solar panels, reaching a generating capacity of approximately 7 million kWh/year. They provide power for 138 street stores in the Panvel network (39% of its street stores), accounting for a significant part of consumption by the network stores and resulting in a reduction of some 872 tons of CO² per year.

Our target for 2022 is to have all our street stores supplied from renewable energy sources.

Social responsibility

THE RIGHT DESTINATION

A pioneer in collecting expired or obsolete drugs with the Destino Certo program, Panvel is improving its reverse logistics practices. In addition to the 163 existing collection bins, the company plans to install more bins with a non-return slot for the disposal of drugs and packs in 2021, with a target of 183 by year-end. Within two years, all the network stores are due to have bins.

Destino Certo was launched by Panvel in 2010, and in 2020 the program collected and correctly disposed of 19 tons of drugs. The drugs collected are taken away by a specialist company and disposed of in such a way as to avoid contaminating the environment.

TROCO AMIGO (“KEEP THE CHANGE”)

The Panvel Troco Amigo Program raised a total of R$2,653,445.35 in 2020, 40% more than in the previous year. In 2020, to help fight the Coronavirus, the network launched a special edition of the campaign, ‘Troco Amigo – Covid-19’, with online donations and a R$1 million contribution from the company itself. In its 12 years of existence, the project has raised over R$14.1 million.

With the help of its customers, Panvel has been able to make donations to 91 hospitals in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and Paraná. This has allowed them to make improvements, refurbish premises, purchase new equipment, and introduce other changes to be able to provide better service to the population. The funds raised by ‘Troco Amigo Covid-19’ have been distributed to hospitals in the front line of the fight against Covid-19.

PROJECT PESCAR

The Company has always focused on health and development in the communities in which we operate. We have our own projects, and we also participate in third-party schemes, such as Project Pescar, which is aimed at providing education to vulnerable minors.

So far, more than 200 youngsters have attended the project, and our 15th group graduated in 2020. The 16th edition started in 2021 with a group of more than 15 young people who will receive personal and professional training and be given opportunities for social development.
